Enter Heavy Meddle, our Scottish-style Wee Heavy and one of the boldest beers to ever emerge from the depths of the Meddlesome brewhouse.

Like many of our best ideas, Heavy Meddle was forged at the crossroads of bad puns, great beer, and an unhealthy obsession with heavy metal. What started as a play on words quickly evolved into a beer worthy of its name—a malt-forward monster built to satisfy those looking for something bigger, richer, and louder when the weather starts turning cold.

Pouring a deep mahogany color with ruby highlights, Heavy Meddle greets you with layers of caramelized malt, toffee, dark fruit, and toasted bread aromas. Rich notes of caramel, raisin, fig, and burnt sugar dominate the palate while subtle hints of roasted nuts and molasses add depth and complexity. Despite its substantial ABV, the beer remains remarkably smooth, balanced, and dangerously drinkable.

Traditional Scottish brewers crafted Wee Heavies to be rich, warming ales that could stand up to long winters and cold nights. Historically, they were often served in smaller pours because of their elevated strength—hence the name “Wee Heavy.” While we appreciate the history, we’re not entirely convinced the Scots intended for people to stop at just one.
